I have been bothered for awhile. As a woman who worked a decade in progressive politics and advocacy, I've encountered many misogynists. This is one of the reason I left. I felt too broken down by men who treated me different, by being one of a handful of non-white males in the room. By men who still prey on interns, who use sexist language freely when talking about a woman they find unacceptable.
And then there are the women who align themselves with the worst misogynists. Smiling and doing what they are told, gaining favor. I feel like they are all sellouts to their gender. I get so angry when I see them doing the bidding for the men who stand behind them. I can't figure out a way to rectify my anger towards them.
